The Stamford High Black Knights Marching Band participated in the Stamford Memorial Day Parade to honor our fallen soldiers.

Mayor Malloy Recognizes Black Knights Winter Percussion
Mayor Dannel Malloy recently recognized the Stamford High Black Knights Percussion Squad on their recent achievements with a letter to the Band Parents Association.
We thank the Mayor for recognizing the hard work and dedication of these Stamford High Students, as well as the commitment and dedication of the band staff and parent supporters.
West Conn Jazz Festival Winners!

The Jazz Ensemble spent a fun day at West Conn State University Jazz Festival. The students performed well, with a varied program including swing, Latin jazz and a ballad, featured soloists included Ryan Henderson, Eric Schneider, Matt Van Houten, Brandon Hallowell, Stephen Esposito, John Mahoney and Dan Bishop.
At the Festival, clinician and famed Cuban saxophone and clarinet player Paquito D'Rivera chose two students from each Jazz Ensemble to receive 50% scholarships to the WCSU Summer Music Camp.
Jazz Ensemble Plays at Brien McMahon
On Friday, May 4th, the SHS Jazz Ensemble performed in their final competition for the spring at Brien McMahon High School. The ajudicators were percussionist Joe Corsello and former Maynard Ferguson bassist Rick Petrone. The students performed a varied repertoire with success on a high level. They opened with the funk-fusion classic "Birdland," featuring the rhythm section. Next was the ballad "Georgia on my Mind," featuring Ryan Henderson on solo trumpet. "Afro Blue" was an afro-cuban chart made famous by John Coltrane, and featured Omi Batan on drums and guitarists John Mahoney and Michael Galgano.
Black Knights Percussion Make WGI Finals In Dayton - End Season on High Note!
The Black Knights Percussion Line Successfully advanced through two seminfinal rounds to compete in the WGI Scholastic A Percussion Finals - taking 8th place in the country!

On Tuesday night, April 17, Stamford Winter Percussion departed for a 12-hour bus ride to Dayton, Ohio for the WGI Percussion World Championships.

Band Parents and Students Attend Underage Drinking Forum
The Underage Drinking Forum yesterday was very well attended by Stamford residents. The Black Knights Marching band in particular was out in force.

Stamford High's Winter Color Guard ends its season on an emotional high note at Championships!

Stamford High's Winter Color Guard ended its season on a high note, scoring an 87.30, surpassing last week's season high and personal best when they performed their final show at Championships on March 31st in Trumbull. The performance was full of energy and emotion as the ladies were sad to see the season come to an end.
The last day was filled with fun, surprises and some tears as long-lasting memories were made.
