Jazz Band at Brien McMahon

The Stamford High School Jazz Band received a great score with their performance at the McMahon High School Jazz Festival. Daniel Bishop received the "Choice Award" for his palying on the bass. This was a much improved performance from the Berklee Jazz Festival. It will be followed up at Norwalk High School March 13th.

Great performances at Berklee

Great performances at Berklee

Congratulations goes out to both Jazz ensembles for their performances at the Berklee Jazz Festival!

Special congratulations to the Combo who received an honorable mention in their class.

Congratulations to Stamford High School Marching Band

Congratulations to Stamford High School Marching Band

Words can not describe how proud I and the parents are of the members of the Stamford High School Marching Band. They have persevered through the trials and difficulties of the 2008 season. They have grown as musicians and leaders while learning life long lessons. This was shown in a strong performance in Bridgeport on Saturday.

Plans are already under way for the 2009 season. Please check regularly for updates.

Note: We have an audio (mp3) posted to the website, and pictures!

Wet But Strong Performance At Danbury

Wet But Strong Performance At Danbury

The Stamford Marching Band gave a powerful performance at Danbury High School on Saturday. The staff is appreciative of each section and parents being flexible with the change of venue and times. Congratulations to the winds showing tremendous improvement over the last couple of weeks.  The guard and percussion showed their skills as well.

Special thanks to the parents for helping with the equipment and chaperoning!

Pictures are posted to the photosets sections of our site.

Newtown and Southington Performances

Newtown and Southington Performances

Saturday began with frigid temperatures and anticipation for a long day. Fingers were numb but attitudes were positive.

The Newtown performance was a quick "play and your done" getting on the bus and racing off to Southington for the night. Southington's performance showed much promise for the marching band as we push into championship mode. The Black Knights took Best Music and Best Percussion for Class II. The total score was 82.1 in Southington giving the Black Knights an 8 point improvement from Cheshire last weekend in USSBA. This is due to the hard work and improvement by the winds as well as the rest of the ensemble. The MAC score has not been received as of yet but will be posted.

Thank you to everyone, including the parents, for a wonderful Saturday!  Pictures have been posted to the photosets section of our site.

Trumbull Competition!

Trumbull Competition!

In their third performance of the season the Black Knights had another excellent outing.

Scoring 2nd place in a crowded Class II, the Black Knights were just .2 behind 1st place Brookfield.  In addition the Black Knights Marching Band took the caption awards for Outstanding Music and Outstanding Percussion.

The scores are posted on the MAC website, and we have pictures.

Knight Music 2008 a Success!

Knight Music 2008 is now successfully concluded.  We have pictures, and the official scores are now posted.

Eight marching bands from New York and Connecticut competed in the 9th annual Knight Music marching band competition. With great weather, 8 great bands performing, and the best music fans in the world we couldn't go wrong.  We hope all of our visitors and visiting bands enjoyed the show.  We were thrilled and proud to have you.

Magellan Season Debuts!

Magellan Season Debuts!

The Stamford High Black Knights competed in their first show of the season at Brien McMahon High School Saturday, September 13th.  The Marching Senators were great hosts.  We were nervous, but with an excellent first show behind us our season is now in full swing.
